Fun abounds at Saturday’s market at Deltaville Maritime Museum

Hull 104 is shown leaving the boat shop at Deltaville Maritime Museum and Holly Point Nature Park. Boat Shop Director John England reports, “Deadrise hull 104 has been sold and is being outfitted with a new outboard at Friday’s Malise Marine in Glenns. We are expecting this boat back at the museum shortly for us to try out. Hopefully we will have it at our pier to show off at the next market day 9 a.m.-1 p.m. July 22.” Hull 105 is getting her finishing touches and will also be on display along with the F.D. Crockett and the National Park Services Roving Ranger and its Junior Angler program. (Photo by Jim Luton)

The Deltaville Maritime Museum’s (DMM) Holly Point Market runs 9 a.m.-1 p.m. this Saturday and there’ll be vendors in the arbors, live music in the open pavilion, donation-only admission to DMM, workboat tours on the pier, model trains in the children’s garden, egg sandwiches at the tea house and food on the waterfront.

The One Cracked Egg food trailer will serve breakfast sandwiches starting at 9 a.m., pierwalk exhibits start at 10 a.m., deadrise cruises start at 10 a.m. and the Groovin’ in the Park concert with Clayton Neal and Gary Archer opens 5-6 p.m. for the Rip Tide band, which takes the stage 6-8 p.m. Gates open at 4 p.m.

It will be music all day as our local Deltaville musicians and neighbors, Ollie and Sandy Adcock, will play in the open events pavilion beginning at 10 a.m. Ollie has played at several events in the past and he and his wife Sandy will open an open mic morning in the pavilion. “Whatever your instrument, come on out and play with us,” Ollie said.
