Lower United Methodist Church is the location for COCAPRAW

A midsummer songfest is in store on Thursday, July 6, for lovers of beautiful church music and the scriptures that inspired it. The event will be presented in historic Lower United Methodist Church (LUMC) in Hartfield and it has an unusual name, COCAPRAW (Come One, Come All, Praise, Reflect, and Worship).

The interdenominational evening of music, organized by the family of the late Hartfield native Claudia Payne Robins Ryland, who died in April, will begin at 6:30 p.m. The entire community is welcome to come and sing.

Mrs. Ryland’s husband, Urbanna native John “Nugget” Ryland, said, “Our grief that has followed Claudia’s passing, God’s amazing support in the midst of it, and Claudia’s lifelong empathy and compassion for others who encounter countless trials in their earthly journey have led our daughter, Ashley Willis, my grandson, Reed Willis, and me to plan this evening of musical praise, reflection and comfort.

Reed Willis will be the accompanist for COCAPRAW. He is worship leader at Eastside Church in Williamsburg and has just graduated from Boston’s Berklee College of Music…
