The River Counties Community Foundation (RCCF) recently invested $1,183,185 through its 2023 Community Impact grants cycle to 65 organizations serving Middlesex, Lancaster and Northumberland counties. This is the second year that RCCF’s annual grantmaking has exceeded $1 million.
RCCF provides grants in five key focus areas: community vibrancy, economic prosperity, educational success, environmental stew-ardship and health and wellness.
Among the grants:
- Middlesex County Volunteer Rescue Squad received support for the purchase of a new ambulance.
- Middlesex County Public Library received support for acquisition of a new Mobile Library.
- YMCA of the Virginia Peninsulas received support for its youth development programs, nurturing their potential through a regional, year-round preschool, school-age, summer day camp and teen leadership programs in Middlesex, Lancaster and Northumberland.
- Middlesex-Northern Neck Free Health Clinic received support for a part-time nurse as well as a portion of medical and dental office supply costs and support cost for Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) dental students who travel to the clinic to provide services.
- Boys & Girls Club of the Northern Neck received support for academic success, workforce readiness, and life skills training for teens.
- Healthy Harvest Food Bank received support for construction of an educational center and aquaponics production facility to provide fresh, nutritious food to those in need through an innovative aquaponics project.
- Northumberland Public Library received support for replacement of its Mobile Library.
