Juneteenth Parade Saturday, June 10

An entry in the annual Saluda Juneteenth Parade rolls down General Puller Highway in 2021. This year, the parade will line up at Middlesex High School (MHS) at 11 a.m this Saturday, June 10, and at noon will proceed to the Middlesex County Historic Courthouse, circle around it and go back to the high school. Participants should arrive early because the road will be closed to traffic before noon. The day’s Celebrate Freedom family event at MHS is open to the public and will be educating, empowering and entertaining, organizers say. Exhibits and events include food and merchandise vendors, genealogy, wellness, music, storytelling and “Tales of Freedom,” a mini music concert, a “kids corner” with a bounce house and face painting and DJ 360. Also featured this year will be a car and motorcycle show and contest. For information or to participate in the parade or festival, call Minister Davelin Gresham at 804-530-2791 or Cynthia Beverley at 804-815-8426. Parking for the June 10 Juneteenth celebration at Middlesex High School will be in the field across from MHS.
