The Middlesex High School (MHS) varsity baseball team (12-6) did not play the scheduled district game with Mathews last week as the Blue Devils cancelled games three times, said MHS Head Coach John Robins.
Middlesex is the third seed in the Region A tournament that starts today, Thursday, May 25. The Chargers will host Eastern Shore Chincoteague High School in the first round at 5 p.m.
The Essex High School Trojans are the number one seed in the tournament. The Trojans (16-3) will be playing the West Point Pointers, the number eight seed.
Rappahannock High School (15-5) and the number two seed will host Northumberland, a number seven seed. Number 4 seed, Lancaster (13-6) will host Mathews in another quarterfinal game.
The winner of the Middlesex-Chincoteague game will play the winner of the Rappahannock-Northumberland game in the semi-finals that are scheduled to be played on Tuesday, May 30, at 6 p.m. Locations of semifinal games are yet to be determined.
