Lightning and rain woes pull the plug on last week’s MHS-RHS baseball game

The Middlesex High School (MHS) baseball team (9-5, 6-3) lost to the Rappahannock Raiders, 3-2, in a game on Monday, May 8, that was stopped for lightning in the sixth inning and then canceled due to rain.

“I’m hopeful that we will get another shot at Rappahannock in the region tournament,” said Charger Head Coach John Robins. “They are a good team that we are capable of beating.”
Middlesex’s Kaden Hunley pitched five innings, allowed four hits and had three strikeouts.

On offense, Simon Larson paced the Chargers with two hits and an RBI; Hudson McMinn, two hits; and Garrison Robins had a hit.

The Chargers were scheduled to play Mathews High School on Wednesday, May 17, in MHS’s final regular season district game. “We will host the first round of the Region A tournament,” said Robins. “We do not know who we are going to play yet or what time.”
