Little League Days return to Deltaville Ballpark this weekend for its seventh year, with hundreds of area children taking part in a series of eight games on Friday and Saturday, May 12 and 13. Once again, the ballpark will be converted to Little League-sized bases and a temporary outfield fence, and the young players will play with all the trimmings of a ballpark game — music, announcing and more.
Games kick off on Friday night with a pair of softball games featuring a pair of minor league softball teams from Middlesex at 6 p.m., with a major league softball showdown at 8 p.m. between Middlesex and Mathews.
On Saturday, the action kicks off at 9 a.m. with Middlesex versus Mathews in minor league baseball.…
Admission to Little League Day is free on both days, and the ballpark’s grill will be fired up with crab cakes, barbecue, burgers and all the regular favorites.
The ballpark will kick back up for summer baseball season Memorial Day weekend! The Deltaville Deltas will kick off their 2023 season on Saturday night, May 27, versus the Tappahannock Tides.
If you notice that night games appear a bit clearer this year, your eyes aren’t deceiving you — the ballpark recently completed a replacement of all 72 light fixtures of the field lighting system. Originally installed in the early 1950s and last upgraded in the early 1980s, the field lights were replaced with customized LED fixtures for the 2023 season. The fixtures were built specifically for Deltaville Ballpark by Wisconsin Light Lab.
