The Middlesex High School (MHS) varsity baseball team (8-3, 5-1) won two Tidewater District games this past week with 10-0 wins over Mathews and West Point.
Against Mathews, Patrick Larson pitched a two-hit shutdown and the game ended after five innings due to the Virginia High School League 10-run slaughter rule. Of offense, Simon Larson had three hits on three at bats and one RBI. MHS catcher Cameron Byers had two hits and an RBI; Peyton Lambert and Kaden Hunley, two hits each; and Chris Withers, one hit and three RBIs.
In the 10-0 win over West Point, Hunley was the winning pitcher. He allowed only one hit in five innings and had eight strikeouts. On offense, Hudson McMinn had two hits and three RBIs; Byers, two hits; Lambert, one hit, two RBIs; and Simon Larson, one hit, two RBIs.
The Chargers traveled to Charles City on Tuesday, May 2, to take on the Panthers and will travel to King William today, Thursday, May 4, to take on the Cavaliers.
