Jackie Lee Schultz, 79, of Deltaville passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 26, 2023, in her home, with her daughters by her side.
She was born in 1943, in Pitt County, North Carolina to Charlie Lee and Edna Louise (Carson) Lee, who preceded her in death.
Jackie was born at home, the fifth child of seven. She grew up on a small farm and attended Aurelian Springs School in rural Halifax County, North Carolina. Jackie graduated from High School in 1961. In 1962, Jackie met and married Gene Schultz. They were married 39 years and had three daughters, Susan, Lynne and Farrah. Gene preceded Jackie in death in 2001.
Mrs. Shultz was a business owner in Gloucester, operating Sutton’s Restaurant from 1996 to 2004. She also worked for Middlesex County Public School as a cafeteria manager for many years.
Travel was one of Jackie’s favorite things, especially exploring with her sisters, the “Golden Girls.” They travelled together across the country for many years, often playing Phase 10 or Dominos. Jackie was a fantastic and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She supported her kids and grandkids activities and adventures. She traveled near and far to basketball games, football games and numerous horse shows. Jackie was always there shouting and cheering on her kids.
She was a devout member of Seventh-day Adventist Church for many years.
Jackie is survived by her children, Susan Wade, Farrah Lee Owen, Lynne Smith (DJ); grandchildren, RJ, Ali and Cole; great-grandchild, Gunner; one sister, Peggy Hedgepeth; two brothers, Charles Lee (Brenda) and Larry Lee; best friend, Barbara West; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, JW Lee; her sisters, Ellen and Edna Earle; and her son in-law, Kevin Wade.
A celebration of life is planned for 2 p.m. on Monday, May 1 at the Deltaville Maritime Museum, 287 Jackson Creed Road, Deltaville.
Memorial donations may be made in memory of Jackie Schultz, to the St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
