Tractor Supply, Family Dollar eye opening Saluda stores

Saluda is growing.

Two major businesses could be coming to Saluda.

On March 9, the Middlesex Planning Commission issued preliminary approval of a Tractor Supply site plan that had been submitted for review. The store is planned for the west end of Saluda on General Puller Highway (Route 33) near U.S. Route 17.

On the east end of Saluda, Family Dollar is seeking a Special Exception to establish an approximately 10,500-square foot retail store. A public hearing is set for 6 p.m. today, Thursday, April 13, in the board room of the Middlesex County Historic Courthouse in Saluda.

Tractor Supply plans a 22,000-square foot building on five vacant acres across General Puller Highway from Urbanna Builders Supply and the Dollar General store. The parcel is zoned General Business and no rezoning is needed.

Final site plan approval for the Tractor Supply may be extended once all Virginia Department of Transportation, Virginia Department of Health and Virginia Department of Environmental Quality approvals have been issued, explained Planning Director Dave Kretz.
