Work is scheduled to start soon on the Urbanna Town Pavilion at Taber Park as officers of the Urbanna Beautification Committee Inc. (UBI), key financial donors to the project and town officials joined in a groundbreaking event on Monday.

The UBI raised nearly $100,000 in just a few months to build the pavilion in memory of Charles and Betty Page Bristow. The Bristows were lifelong residents of Middlesex County. Betty Page (Waddell) Bristow grew up in Urbanna and Charles in Saluda.

UBI President Anne Miller thanked all those who contributed to the project. “We have had overwhelming support for this project,” she said. “We are hoping to have an opening day ceremony in June. Our contractor has told us that the pavilion should be finished by the start of summer.”
