18% increase proposed; real estate, personal prop. taxes to remain at current rates
The Middlesex County Board of Supervisors (MCBS) is proposing an 18% increase in the budget for the coming fiscal year — up to $37,076,000 from the current $31,303,977.
Residents can sound off on the budget increase at a special public hearing set for 7 p.m. today, Thursday, April 13, in the Middlesex County Historic Courthouse at 865 General Puller Highway in Saluda.
Revenues
The proposed fiscal year 2023-2024 (FY 23-24) budget has no increase in real estate or personal property tax rates.
County taxpayers will continue to pay 61 cents per $100 worth of value of real estate and mobile homes…
Expenditures
The proposed budget calls for a 9% increase, or $1,151,657 in local spending for schools, which includes a 7% increase for employee compensation for all school and county workers…
