April 22, Earth Day 2023, will be the date for “The Great Middlesex Green Up” sponsored by Keep Middlesex Beautiful, the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) and Middlesex County.
The goal is to pick up trash on Old Virginia Street (Route 602) from the Urbanna Town Hall to U.S. 17, said organizer Tom Maffey.
About 40 volunteers to pick up trash and six pick-up trucks and drivers are all needed to assist with the cleanup. The event will begin at 8:30 a.m. at the new town hall at 390 Virginia St.
Volunteers will be needed to drive trucks and assist. If you would like to participate either as a picker or driver, email Alice Maffey at alice.maffey@gmail.com. “Please let us know in advance so we can assemble the right amount of gear to support the number of volunteers,” said Tom Maffey.
