MHS baseball team notches two victories

The Middlesex High School (MHS) varsity baseball team (5-2) won two games this week against Nandua, 10-0, and Northumberland, 3-1, and lost to the Rappahannock Raiders, 8-2.

“We lost to Rappahannock last Tuesday, but on Friday and Saturday against Nandua and Northumberland we played a lot cleaner,” said MHS Head Baseball Coach Matthew Robins.
Patrick Larson was the winning pitcher in the 10-0 win against the Warriors. “We got a solid pitching game from Patrick against Nandua,” said Robins. “Chris Withers took the mound to beat Northumberland and he did a great job too.”

“I am real pleased with the play of our team so far,” said Robins. “We are 5-2 in the win-loss column and this early in the season that is a good place to be. We start district play next week.”

With MHS on spring break, coach Robins said that hitting stats for the three games were unavailable for the Sentinel this week.

The Chargers will visit Tidewater District foe West Point on Tuesday, April 11, for a 6 p.m. matchup and will host the Charles City Panthers on Thursday, April 13, at 5 p.m.
