Ex-MHS counselor arrested, is facing two felony charges

Indicted on taking indecent liberties with a 16-year-old MHS student

A Middlesex County Grand Jury last week indicted Felicia Shantell Marsh, 28, of Saluda, on two counts of taking indecent liberties with a child by a person in a custodial or supervisory relationship, which are felonies. The March 27 indictment follows an investigation by the Middlesex County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO), reported Maj. M.E. Sampson.

According to Maj. Sampson, on or about Jan. 23, Middlesex High School (MHS) personnel notified the school resource officer, a MHS-based sheriff’s deputy, of a suspected inappropriate relationship between a 16-year-old MHS student and Marsh, who was a MHS guidance counselor at that time.

The school resource officer contacted detectives with the Middlesex Sheriff’s Office in reference to this complaint, Maj. Sampson said.

Detectives spoke with the complainant as well as the suspect and conducted multiple interviews, and determined the alleged incidents took place between December 2022 and January 2023, said Maj. Sampson. Marsh’s employment was terminated at that time and she is no longer employed by the school.

Court records indicate Marsh was arrested Thursday, March 30, and is scheduled to appear in Middlesex Circuit Court on April 19 to be advised about attorney arrangement.

Clayton Michael Colley case

Also on March 27, the grand jury indicted Clayton Michael Colley on one felony count of taking indecent liberties with a child by a person in a custodial or supervisory relationship, court documents indicate. He also is charged with the related misdemeanor of stalking. Colley had been the school resource officer at MHS.

The alleged incidents occurred Oct. 12, 2021. As soon as the complaint was received, the sheriff’s office removed Colley from the school and his employment at the sheriff’s office was terminated the next day, said Maj. Sampson.

Colley’s trial date in Middlesex Circuit Court has been set for July 19.
