Ladies and gentlemen… children of all ages… the circus is coming to Urbanna!
On March 23, the Urbanna Town Council agreed by consensus to invite Lewis & Clark Circus to set up its big top tent in Taber Park for a total of four shows Friday, April 21, through Sunday, April 23. This is “one of America’s last big top shows,” states a circus press release.
There are no animals in this circus, said Urbanna Town Administrator Garth Wheeler. The town’s only obligation is to provide a site, he added. However, the town has options on the percentage of proceeds it can receive from the circus, depending on how involved the town is in its promoting. Tickets are available at the town hall at 390 Virginia St., Suite B., (804-758-2613) or lewisclarkcircus.com.
The Lewis and Clark Circus was founded in 2004 and travels the eastern United States. Its stop in Urbanna is part of the first full tour since the pandemic and several acts are making their U.S. debut, states a press release.
