Charger girls, under new coaching leadership, blank Northumberland 19-0 in March 14 season opener
The Middlesex High School varsity softball team (2-0, 0-0) opened its 2023 season on March 14 with a convincing 19-0 win at home over the visiting Northumberland Indians.
The Middlesex defense was led by freshman pitcher Courtney Jessie, who hurled a no hitter and the offense was led by sophomore Libby Oliver who drove in seven runs for the Lady Chargers. For the Lady Chargers, it was Chelsey Holmes, 1-2, drawing two walks, four runs scored; Oliver, 2-3 double, four runs scored; Candice Brown, 1-3, 2 runs scored; Courtney Jessie, 2-3, triple, run scored; Courtney Harrow, 3-3, three runs scored; Alyssa Mitchem, 1-3, run scored; Kayleigh Moye, run scored; Carly Jessie, run scored; Cheyenne Musick, two walks, two runs scored; and Mary Isbell, walk, run scored.
Middlesex 12, Lancaster 10
Middlesex visited the Lancaster Lady Red Devils on Friday, March 17, and came away with a hard fought win. Middlesex trailed for much of the game, but was able to retake the lead in the sixth inning and hold on for the victory…
