Harmony Grove Baptist Church is hosting a free chili dinner for the community. It is set for Saturday, March 25. at the church’s fellowship hall. There will be chili, salad, cornbread or corn muffins, dessert and drink with take-out meals available from 4 to 4:45 p.m. and dine-in meals offered from 5 to 7 p.m.
The church is located at 7722 General Puller Highway (Route 33) in Harmony Village. “Please come enjoy some fun and community fellowship and enjoy some chili and fix-ins while they last,” said an event spokesman.
Harmony Grove Baptist Church and the Hartfield Volunteer Fire Department will co-sponsor and host the annual Easter Extravaganza Drive-Thru on Saturday, April 1 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Children will receive bags of candy, devotional booklets and for lunch, a hot dog, chips, bottled water and cookies.
There will be prize drawings and the Easter Bunny will be on site and available for a photo opportunity with children.

Urbanna United Methodist Church (UUMC) at 291 Marston Ave. will host a number of special activities for Holy Week and Easter. Palm/Passion Sunday (April 2, 11 a.m., sanctuary) will focus on Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem and the events leading to His crucifixion. Holy Thursday (April 6, 5 p.m., fellowship hall) will include Holy Communion and a service of foot washing. Our Good Friday service (April 7, noon, in the Prayer Garden) will feature a reading of the passion story. Easter Sunday UUMC will join with other congregations for a brief sunrise service at the town marina (6:30 a.m.), and then celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ with special music at 11 a.m. in the sanctuary.
Most of the services will be recorded on Facebook Live (Urbanna Methodist Church). All are welcome to join them as they live into the saving mysteries of God’s grace in Jesus Christ.

No joke! Zoar Baptist Church is hosting a community drive-through dinner on Saturday, April 1, from 4-6 p.m. The free meals will be served to the first 100 cars that drive through the parking lot of Zoar Baptist Church at 17097 General Puller Highway (Route 33) in Deltaville. Over the past couple of years the Zoar hospitality team has been unable to do its job because of the pandemic and now they want to re-engage by hosting, serving and showing Christian hospitality.
“We want to serve the community as Easter approaches to let everyone know we are here and invite them to celebrate with us,” said Patricia Prince, one of the team members.

Saluda Baptist Church’s (SBC) youth fun night event is set for 6-8:30 p.m. Friday, March 24. Bring a friend and come and enjoy free pizza, popcorn, drinks, and even make your own sundae! They have lots of fun games that are sure to make you laugh! Then make your own sundae and watch the movie “A week Away.”
