Action tabled on collecting Urbanna and Saluda sewage at St. Clare Walker

The Middlesex County School Board (MCSB) tabled action Monday, March 13, on reaching an agreement with Hampton Roads Sanitation District (HRSD) on selling HRSD approximately one half-acre of land on St. Clare Walker Middle School (SCW) property at Locust Hill.

HRSD wants to purchase a 50-foot wide piece of school property that runs along the western boundary of a piece of non-school owned property on General Puller Highway (Route 33) to install tanks of 100,000 gallons underground for storing sewage at peak usage times.

A representative from HRSD at the meeting said that MCPS could negotiate the price with the authority and he would set up a meeting to speak on the matter.

“Before we finalize this, we need to make sure that it is exactly what we want,” said Reed.

“It is going to be there for a long time and we need to make sure in the very beginning it is acceptable to our school system…”
