Champions expected to again go far in state play this year
Middlesex High School’s (MHS) girls tennis team is expected to go far this year. Last year’s district champion squad finished 10-1-1 and sent standout Madison “Maddie” Green to the state quarterfinals. Green, the team’s No. 1 singles player, returns this year. She had a 12-0 regular season record last year, and was the Region A singles champion.
Green is joined by three other returnees — Hailey Bruce, Meeha Ferris and Zikirah Morris — all of whom are constantly improving their tennis game, said MHS Head Coach Matthew Short. “The majority of our team are returning players this season,” Coach Short told the Sentinel in an email. “They have some experience and now we can spend the time building on what they already know…”
