On Sunday, March 12, the Deltaville Maritime Museum and Holly Point Nature Park (DMM) continues its scheduled 2023 Turner Lecture Series with a 2-4 p.m. presentation by the Tidewater Oyster Gardeners Association (TOGA). TOGA will present the third and final Turner Lecture for 2023, “Chesapeake Bay Oysters and Raising Your Own Oyster Garden.”

The Tidewater Oyster Gardeners Association is a local nonprofit organization with the mission of educating youth and adults about oysters, designing and making equipment for raising oysters, helping citizens establish oyster gardens, and improving the health of the Chesapeake Bay.

Vic Spain of White Marsh will provide a high-level review of four centuries of history of oysters and oystering in the Chesapeake Bay. Carl Zulick of Deltaville will discuss bay ecology and oyster anatomy, addressing the current health of the bay and Richard Siciliano will cover how you can make an oyster garden.

Proceeds from the Turner Fund support all our levels of education from kindergarten through adult. Please RSVP to the museum office at 804-776-7200 or e-mail office@deltavillemuseum.com.
