The Middlesex High School varsity basketball team beat the Mathews Blue Devils, 77-64, in the quarter-finals of the Region A basketball tournament at MHS in Saluda Monday. JaQuan Griffin exploded for 29 points to pace the Chargers in the win.
With the win Middlesex advances to the semi-finals Wednesday Feb. 22 at Middlesex. The Chargers will be playing Northampton High School in Saluda at 6 p.m.
