William Edward Greggs, 83, of West Point, went to be with the Lord and Savior on Thursday, Feb. 9, 2023.
Edward retired as an instrumentation leadman from St. Laurent after 39 years of service. He was a member of Poroporone Baptist Church, where he served on the building and grounds committee and cemetery committee. Edward enjoyed working with his hands, doing carpentry work and electrical work for his friends. He was an avid gardener who enjoyed the outdoors, a true NASCAR fan, and also enjoyed collecting antiques and visiting Lancaster, Pa.
Edward was preceded in death by his wife, Lena Mae Greggs; his parents, William and Mary Greggs; a granddaughter, Lindsey Greggs; and a son-in-law, James “Jimmy” Lippy.
He is survived by his daughter, Janice Lippy; sons, Keith (Julie), Kevin (Cathy), and Paul (Tammy) Greggs; two sisters, Doris Epperly and Judy Palmer (Glen); four grandchildren, Benjamin, Trevor, Brendan and Caleb; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family expresses gratitude to At Home Care Hospice for the loving care they gave to their father, with a special thank you to hospice nurses Braxton, Wendy, Shakila and Emily. Also, a special thanks to Betty Lowney, a longtime family friend.
The family will receive friends 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 16 at Vincent Funeral Home, 417 11th St., West Point.
A funeral service is planned for 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 17 at Poroporone Baptist Church, 30071 The Trail, Shacklefords. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
