Economic warfare is topic of Great Decisions lecture in Deltaville

Lynn Finkel will lecture on economic warfare in the third 2023 Great Decisions program. The free in-person lecture is set for 10 a.m.-noon Friday, Feb. 10, at the Deltaville Community Association building at 17147 General Puller Highway (Route 33).

With the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the United States and its allies imposed harsh sanctions, which prompted the Kremlin to accuse the U.S. of waging economic war. Waging economic warfare consists of a variety of measures from using sanctions to fomenting labor strikes. Such tools are used by nation states to hinder their enemies, and in the case of the United States, have been used as far back as the early 19th century. Since Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022, economic warfare has been the main means for the west to challenge Russia. How effective will these sanctions be at convincing Russia to cease its war?
