Trial date set in exposure case of ex-MHS substitute teacher

Grand jury to hear cases involving ex-Middlesex High School school resource officer

On Jan. 23, the Middlesex Grand Jury indicted Benjamin Bagby, 53, of Locust Hill for the felony charge of exposing sexual or genital parts to a child under the age of 15, reported Middlesex County Commonwealth’s Attorney Michael Hurd. Hurd explained that the charge was before the grand jury after the charge had previously been certified by the Middlesex Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court. The grand jury also issued true bills of indictment for the felony charges of use of a communications system or computer to expose his sexual or genital parts to a child younger than 15, and four counts of aggravated sexual battery.

A trial date has been set for June 7.

Clayton M. Colley

On Jan. 25, charges against Clayton M. Colley, 32, of Urbanna were certified by the Middlesex Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court to the Middlesex Circuit Court, Hurd said. Certified means that the court found probable cause to send the cases to the Circuit Court Grand Jury which convenes on March 27, Hurd explained.

Colley is charged with felony sexual abuse of a child with whom he had a custodial or supervisory relationship, and the misdemeanor of stalking. The offense date for the felony was Oct. 12, 2021 and the stalking is alleged to have occurred from Aug. 25, 2021 to Aug. 25, 2022, court records indicate.
