Christchurch welcomes new baseball coaches

Christchurch School (CCS) Director of Athletics and Co-Curriculars John Dehm announced this week additions to the Fighting Seahorses coaching staff.

Saluda resident Joey Fitchett has been named head baseball coach for CCS. Fitchett is the president of 241 Baseball League, which includes 10 teams from Middlesex, Lancaster, Gloucester, Northumberland, Williamsburg, King William, Mathews and Warsaw.

Coach Fitchett will be assisted by Coach Aaron Mathews. Mathews is a graduate of Oregon State University, where he played outfielder for the Beavers. He played eight years in the minors with both the Blue Jays and Miami Marlins.
