MCSO investigating possible threatening middle schooler posts

On Monday, Maj. M.E. Sampson of the Middlesex County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO), said detectives are investigating a string of possible threatening emails and social media posts made by a group of St. Clare Walker (SCW) Middle School students on Thursday, Jan. 19. Detectives are working with school resource officers. “The sheriff’s office will be using all avenues possible to identify all persons involved,” said Maj. Sampson.

Maj. Sampson said school officials are assisting in the investigation, which is ongoing and he could not comment further.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call the Crime Line at 804-758-5600.

SCW Principal Elizabeth Sanders sent the following email to parents.

“A situation that occurred over social media on Thursday evening was brought to the school’s attention first thing Friday morning. In conjunction with the school resource officer, the school completed a thorough investigation. It was found that there was not and is not a direct threat to St. Clare Walker Middle School. While it is not our practice to communicate our investigations, we understand that information continues to be shared in the community that is concerning to parents. We felt it was best to communicate with families at this time.

“Safety is our number one priority. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to the school. We continue to ask for parent and guardian support in talking with your child about appropriate social media use and monitoring their accounts. We will also continue reminding students about the importance of respecting one another and being good citizens. We appreciate your support in this matter.”
