Aquaculture training offered for high schoolers

Rappahannock Community College (RCC) has joined with Virginia Tech to offer a new career and technical training program, Promoting Careers in Aquaculture, for high school juniors and seniors.

Promoting Careers in Aquaculture is open to students in Middlesex, Essex, Gloucester, Lancaster, Mathews, Northumberland, Richmond and Westmoreland counties.

Students must apply to the program through their participating school system counseling office. The Middle Peninsula and Northern Neck regions will each have 10 students selected to participate in the program. Promoting Careers in Aquaculture consists of three parts, starting in mid-February with an online short course introducing the science and practices of shellfish aquaculture. This will be followed in June by a one week summer session hosted at the Warsaw and Glenns RCC…
