Carl Reynolds “Renny” Randolph, 90, of Deltaville, died Thursday, Dec. 22, 2022.
His youth was spent as a “gym rat” in Chapel Hill, N.C., where he later attended the University of North Carolina (UNC), graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry. He followed in the footsteps of his father and brother as a member of the ATO Fraternity, where he forged lifelong friendships. Renny was captain of the varsity soccer team at UNC, and loved all things Carolina Blue. He was a member of the Chapel of the Cross Episcopal Church in Chapel Hill.
Renny’s career was diverse, and spanned many years. From pharmaceutical sales, to kitchen remodeling, historic restoration, and homebuilding, he combined work with an active list of hobbies. He particularly enjoyed sailing with friends and traveling the country. He was known for his quick wit and a propensity for mischief, as many will attest.
Renny loved his family. He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Kay Bunting Randolph of Greensboro, N.C.; son, Randy Randolph and daughter-in-law Cara Randolph of Deltaville; granddaughter, Libbie Randolph; daughter, Ginnie Parrish and son-in-law Charlie Parrish of Cary, N.C.; granddaughter, Cami Rodrigo of Reston; grandson, Clay Parrish of Charleston, S.C.; and daughter, Rebecca Randolph and son-in-law Andrew Scarborough of Richmond.
He is predeceased by his wife of 46 years, Gayle Ruffin Randolph of Old Church. There was a family interment on Dec. 30 at Immanuel Episcopal Church in Old Church, where Gayle rests as well.
