Urbanna Christmas parade fun is Friday

Sixteen trees are part of the Urbanna Business Association’s annual “Festival of Trees” offered on the Town Green on Virginia Street. Some of the trees have already been decorated and members of the Middlesex County Kiwanis Club were onhand Tuesday, Nov. 29, getting their tree ready for the best in show competition that will be determined on Saturday Dec. 3. Parade

Urbanna Hometown Christmas Parade participants should be at the town office parking lot at 390 Virginia St. at 6 p.m. for the parade lineup.

Starting around 4:30 p.m. on the Urbanna Town Green, there will be a children’s area.

Prior to the parade, the Middlesex Volunteer Fire Department will be serving fried oysters, hot dogs and hamburgers at the fire station. Santa and Mrs. Claus will arrive to visit with children.

Care boxes will be available and anyone wishing to donate please bring wrapped gifts for boys and girls and for elderly adults.

Awards will be given to the winning floats and bands in the parade. After the parade, participants should check back at the firehouse to see if they’ve won. The annual Christmas parade is sponsored by the MVFD women’s auxiliary and the Town of Urbanna.
