Bill Hight named grand marshal of Urbanna Yule parade

Longtime Urbanna businessman William C. (Bill) Hight has been selected grand marshal of the 27th Urbanna Hometown Christmas Parade set for 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 2.

“Bill is someone you can always count on to help,” said Parade Chairman Lois Jean Brooks of the Middlesex Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary. “He has been dedicated to making our community better and we are delighted that he is going to be our grand marshal.”

Parade and events

The parade traditionally starts near the firehouse goes east on Virginia Street, north on Cross Street, west on Marston Street, south on Rappahannock Avenue, west on Bonner Street, and south on Grace Avenue back to the firehouse.

It is not too late to enter in the parade!
Anyone interested in being in the parade should contact Brooks at 804-832-4851. Parade participants should be at the town office parking lot at 6 p.m. for the parade lineup.

Beth Justice Stewart will provide music at the event in front of the Urbanna firehouse from 6 to 7 p.m. and the Hermitage Baptist Church choir will be singing Christmas carols on Bristow’s corner.

Prior to the parade, the Middlesex Volunteer Fire Department (MVFD) will be serving food at the MVFD fire station. Santa and Mrs. Claus will arrive to visit with children. Bring your cameras.

Care boxes will be at the fire house and those wishing to donate can bring wrapped gifts identifying whether the gift is for a girl, boy or for the elderly. The gifts will be distributed through social services and Bay Aging…
