Vanessa Elaine Crews, 55, of Urbanna, passed away at her residence surrounded by family on Thursday, Nov. 10, 2022.
Vanessa was born July 8, 1967, in Richmond. She was a Richmond native, but spent most of her life in Urbanna raising her two daughters, Valerie and Rachel.
She started her career with Capital One in 1993 and in those 28 years she touched the lives of many coworkers with her contagious laugh, positive attitude and outgoing personality. Her determination to live is what she will be remembered by most. Vanessa was a lifelong, faithful servant to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was a member of Cornerstone Fellowship Church. In her spare time, she enjoyed music, photography and spending time with family and friends.
Vanessa is preceded in death by her parents, Robert “Bobby” and Claudette Crews of Richmond; and her best friend, Cindy Easter of North Carolina.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Moody “Bobby” of Urbanna; her daughters, Valerie Crews and Rachel Pitts (Robbie) of Urbanna; step-daughter, April Demastus of Mechanicsville; siblings, Steve Keating (Darlene) of Mechanicsville, Christina Anderton of Williamsburg, Norma Jean Adams (Kenny) of Richmond, Marvin Keating (Jackie) of Spotsylvania, Duane Keating of Washington state; grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Lily, Chase, Jack, Julie, and Ethan; nieces and nephews; and her best friend of 51 years, Tina Craft of Varina.
The family received friends from noon-1 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 14 at Faulkner Funeral Home, Bristow-Faulkner Chapel, Saluda, with a funeral service immediately following. Burial was in H.C. Smither Memorial Cemetery.
