Pavilion eyed for Taber Park needs donors

This is an artist’s sketch of what the completed Bristow Community Pavilion might look like.

by Larry Chowning –

The Urbanna Beautification Inc. (UBI) is building a community pavilion at the Town of Urbanna’s Taber Park to honor the late Charles and Betty Page Bristow. The group is seeking donations and funding to complete the task.

The Bristows were lifelong residents of Middlesex County as Betty Page (Waddell) Bristow grew up in Urbanna and Charles in Saluda. Charles was a member of the first all-white consolidated Middlesex High School graduating class of 1950.

Over the years, the couple were instrumental in making impossible things happen. Charles was a strong proponent of the Urbanna Oyster Festival and was on the Oyster Festival Foundation Board for years.

The Urbanna Oyster Festival generates thousands of dollars annually for Middlesex County nonprofit organizations and Charles and Betty Page pushed to make sure county nonprofit groups were always in a position to profit from the festival.
