Last weekend, Coach Kieran O’Connell and members of the Christchurch School (CCS) sailing team won the Lawrence A. White Trophy Regatta hosted by the Coast Guard Academy in New London, Conn. Through 16 races in each division with a challenging current and shifty conditions, CCS sailors built a 34-point lead in a field of teams from the Midwest, New England, Mid-Atlantic and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Owen Grainger ’24 (Miami, Fla.) and Reid Nelson ’24 (Tampa, Fla.) placed second overall in A Fleet. Rafael De Tomas Pereda ’25 (Valencia, Spain) and PJ Rodrigues ’24 (Southampton, Bermuda) had an impressive 23-point win in B Division.

Christchurch’s sailing program offers experienced coaching at both the varsity and junior varsity levels, and also includes a Learn-to-Sail program.
