“One Community Under God” has rebloomed as 10 community churches come together to host a praise, music and worship service. This year’s event is planned for 11 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 23, at the Middlesex Volunteer Fire Department’s station at 335 Virginia St. in Urbanna. A light lunch will be served afterwards. All are invited to come, join this special time of worship and fellowship together. Dress is casual.
Beginning in 2016, Immanuel Baptist Church, Urbanna Baptist Church and Urbanna United Methodist Church came together to host the initial One Community Under God (OCUG) on the grounds of Hewick Plantation. That first OCUG worship service was conducted on Sept. 11, 2016. The offerings were donated to Middlesex County’s first responders.
The county churches that are hosting this year’s One Community Under God include Antioch Baptist, Calvary Baptist, Christ Church Parish, First Baptist Amburg, Grafton Baptist, Mount Zion Baptist, Pure Life Church, Remlik Wesleyan, Urbanna Baptist and Urbanna United Methodist. The continuing theme of OCUG is “We Are Family.”
