Glebe Landing Baptist Church will celebrate its 250th anniversary on Sunday, Oct. 16. Glebe Landing, the second oldest church in the Tidewater Association (formerly the old Rappahannock), was constituted on Oct. 17, 1772, by noted Baptist preacher John Waller.
On Oct. 9 there will be a tree and monument dedication to those past and present members during the 11 a.m. worship service. All are encouraged to attend. The church address is 1439 Glebe Landing Road in Laneview.
Deciding what to do on Saturday, Oct. 15, has just gotten easier. Urbanna United Methodist Church is hosting a fall bazaar. There will be “yummy” things to buy and decorative accents for your home to purchase. Starting at 9 a.m., the church will be welcoming eager buyers to get a head-start on their holiday shopping or purchase some items for themselves.

The Rev. Nita May of Dunnsville will become the new pastor of Saluda Baptist Church on Sunday, Oct. 16. The Rev. May is a graduate of Baptist Theological Seminary at Richmond, where she earned her master’s degree in Theology. She was ordained into the ministry at her home church, Lyndale Baptist in Chesterfield. She has served as pastor of Boulevard Baptist Church, Richmond, Associate Mission Innovation/Women’s Involvement for Women’s Missionary Union (WMU) of Virginia, director of Central Virginia Baptist Ministries and an active member of the Essex County Ministries Association. She started and led the Rappahannock River Church ministry for 15 years and served as interim pastor of Beale Memorial Baptist Church in Tappahannock in 2020.

Historic Christ Church and Museum (HCC&M) in Weems invites the community to its seventh annual “Raise the Roof” Craft Beer Fest on Saturday, Oct. 15, from 1-6 p.m. on the grounds near the 1735 Christ Church. The popular event features live music by Good Shot Judy and Bobby “Blackhat” Walters, Virginia craft beers, wine, delicious barbecue (or vegetarian fare) with all the fixings, and homemade ice cream.
