Oct. 15 “Taste of Middlesex” to feature food, music, cars, Luna

Deltaville Maritime Museum (DMM) Boat Shop Director John England and DMM senior researcher David Moran did a video/interview at the Reedville Marine Railway with Reedville boatbuilder George M. Butler, former Middlesex County boatbuilder William (Will) Wills and Danny Holden, who specializes in rebuilding old Potomac River dories at Fairport, on Thursday, Sept. 22. The interview is part of an ongoing effort by the museum to document the craft and history of boatbuilding in the region. Pictured above are, from left, Moran, England, Wills, Holden and Butler. The deadrise boat in the background was built by Butler’s father, George P. Butler. George M. Butler is a third generation Reedville wooden boatbuilder. (Photo by Larry Chowning)

All of the folks in Middlesex County know there are a lot of things Middlesex has to be proud of. As more restaurants and commercial kitchens have been added to the Middlesex “Mix,” the county now has many signature “Tastes” it can call its own.

Bringing these “Tastes” together with other inclusive Middlesex attractions will all be featured in the upcoming “Taste of Middlesex” festival planned for 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, at the Deltaville Maritime Museum (DMM) and Holly Point Nature Park.

No tickets are needed, but there will be a per car parking donation of $5.

Local musicians David Moran, Riptide and Ray Pittman Revival will be on the bandstand.

DMM is reaching out to all our Middlesex restaurants and caterers to put their best dish forward to the Taste of Middlesex festival at the maritime park. Those of you who have not heard from us yet and wish to participate, please call the office at 804-776-7200 or call me directly at 804-695-4678.
