Free Broadway tunes concert coming to UBC; to feature string quartet

A string quartet program entitled “The Music Of Old Broadway” will be presented by the Strings and Things quartet at 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 9, at Urbanna Baptist Church (UBC) at 121 Watling St. The Richardson Trust-sponsored performance is free and open to the public.

The program will include selections spanning 240 years of Broadway musicals as far back as “The Beggar’s Opera of 1754” and popular favorites all the way to 1994.

Strings and Things is a network of between 20 and 25 professionally trained musicians in coastal and central Virginia. Members typically play for weddings, receptions, parties and performances in duet, trio or quartet combinations. The membership represents a variety of instrumentation, including violin, viola, cello, flute, oboe, clarinet, trumpet, and keyboard.
