The Middlesex High School (MHS) Charger football team raised its win-loss record to 2-1 Friday with a 49-22 victory over the Windsor Dukes at Windsor.
Jayden Kidd exploded on offense to pace the Chargers. Kidd, who is a speedster and a MHS track star in the 100 and 200 meters, had a total of 320 offensive yards and scored three touchdowns to pace MHS’s offense.
On the ground, Kidd rushed for 142 yards on 12 carries and scored two of his three touchdowns rushing. On kick-off returns, Kidd had a total of 163 return yards on three carries. He scored on an 80-yard punt return.
On punt returns, Kidd has shown explosive talent. At the Chargers first game of the season against Charles City, he had a 70-yard touchdown return called back due to a penalty on the first play of the season.
MHS quarterback Cameron Lambert completed three out of five passes for 47 yards and one for a touchdown. JaQuan Griffin was the recipient of the touchdown pass from Lambert. Griffin caught two passes for a total of 32 yards. Kidd caught the other completed pass for 15 yards.
David Seay had 81 rushing yards on seven carries and scored two touchdowns. Cameron Byers had six carries for 76 yards and a touchdown and Lambert had three carries for 32 yards.
Coach Mark Bowen said that it was a good win for the Chargers and the team is working hard at practice.
The Chargers will travel to Lancaster Friday night to try to blunt the Red Devils pitchforks. Kick-off is 7 p.m.
