This fall’s general election is set for Tuesday, Nov. 8.
The first day of in-person early voting at the Middlesex County Elections Office is Friday, Sept. 23. The office is located at 105 Bowden St. in Saluda. Voters do not need to give a reason for wanting to vote early.
The deadline to register to vote or update an existing registration is Oct. 17.

In the race for U.S. Representative for Virginia’s First Congressional District, incumbent Republican Rob J. Wittman is being challenged by Democrat Herbert C. “Herb” Jones Jr., and Independent David Bruce Foster. Wittman has held the office since 2007. The term is for two years and begins Jan. 1, 2023.
There’s a three-way race for Urbanna mayor. Current Mayor Barbara M. Hartley is being challenged by current council members William T. “Bill” Goldsmith and Steven S. Hollberg. The mayor’s term will be for four years and begin Jan. 1, 2023.
The town council race has seven candidates vying for six seats on council.
Seeking reelection are incumbents Marjorie F. Austin, Larry S. Chowning and Merri Hanson.
Also on the ballot are Alana V. Courtney, P. Gari Lister, Beth Justice Stewart, and Sandra W. Sturgill.
