Organizers are gearing up for the annual Middlesex County Sports Complex Golf Tournament, which is set for noon Friday, Sept. 23, at Piankatank River Golf Club (PRGC) in Hartfield. The event supports the youth in Middlesex County and the surrounding areas.
The Middlesex County Sports Complex is used for baseball, softball, soccer, football, the county’s parks and recreation department, family reunions, local churches and annual fundraisers, such as Relay for Life, and for other charities in the county.
The gold sponsor is Primis Bank; bronze sponsors include Blue Ridge Bank, C.P. Anderson Trucking, Carlton and Edwards, MBG Enterprises, Moore Financial Services and Pitts Lumber.
An ongoing fundraiser is the Pathways to Success brick paver project. Complex reps solicit participation for use in honoring loved ones, memorials, for thanks, or just contributing in someone’s name. When you visit the complex you will notice the “Pathway” as you enter. Also, take a look at the recognition board and see if you would like to see your name or company listed there.
The complex has two major upgrades planned over the next year. One, a family pavilion is almost completed and is located between the upper three fields in the area near the playground. For naming rights the cost is $30,000 with a 25-year term and payments may be made over a five-year period option. The complex also has picnic tables available with a donation of $200 and will have a donation plaque on the end of each table.
To register for the tournament, make a donation or information, call Jackie Duke Taylor at 804-436-6807 or email her at meme2william@gmail.com.
Proceeds from the tournament will go to dugout and pavilion upgrades, as well as other improvements at the complex.
