A group is hosting a fundraiser softball tournament to support the installation of new stadium lights at Deltaville Ballpark, reportedly the oldest all-wooden baseball stadium in Virginia and one of the oldest remaining in the country.
After receiving a quote of roughly $140,000 to install new lights for the stadium, community leaders were able to secure roughly $100,000 in grant funds to support the project. To help raise the remaining $40,000, fundraiser reps will be hosting an eight-team, double elimination softball tournament on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 24 and 25. Games Saturday run 10 a.m.-10:30 p.m. and games Sunday run noon-6 p.m.
Admission will be free, but there will be a donation box to support the cause, concessions will be offered, and there will be a 50-50 raffle on both days…
