The Middlesex High School Charger golf team is 3-2 after losing 175-183 to King William on Aug. 24. King William is a Double AA school, while Middlesex is a Single A school. The Chargers’ only other loss was by one point to Lancaster earlier in the season.
On Aug. 24 against King William, Middlesex’s Peyton Lambert again shot the match low score — an even par 36 for the nine-hole match at Piankatank River Golf Club (PRGC) in Hartfield. Lambert has shot the match low score for four matches and tied for low score in one other match this season that is five games old.
King William’s low score was 43, by two players, while two other Cavaliers shot 44 and 45 for the winning total score. (Only the best four scores count.)
Middlesex sophomore Able Crader was next lowest for the Chargers with a 47, Garrison Robins shot a 48, while teammate Nielson McMinn finished with a 52, to round out the top four scores. Teammates Hudson McMinn shot a 56. Cole Glasco improved with a 58.
Looking ahead, Middlesex hosts Mathews on Wednesday, Sept. 7, at 4 p.m. at Hartfield’s PRGC; and is at West Point on Monday, Sept. 12, at 4 p.m.; and winds up the regular season at King William on Wednesday, Sept. 14, at 4 p.m.
