Nellie Jane Harrow, 89, of Deltaville went to be with the angels on Monday, Aug. 1, 2022.
Nellie was born in Deltaville on March 19, 1933, to Clarice and Dudley Montgomery. Nellie married Eugene Harrow and together they had two children.
Nellie is survived by her daughter, Janie Harrow Ruark; son-in-law, Russell Ruark; and daughter, Catherine Harrow Hensley; along with four grandchildren, Stuart Ruark, Gabrielle Smith, Austin Saltarelli, and Christian Hensley.
Nellie is now united with her loving husband, mother and father who preceded her in passing. She was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother.
Nellie dedicated her life to serving others. She was a lifelong member of Philippi Christian Church, where she served on the board, was a deacon, an elder, and spent many hours serving communion to her church community. Nellie fed thousands of children in her career as cafeteria manager at Wilton Elementary School. During her 20-plus years of service at the school, she ensured no child went hungry. Nellie was a faithful member of the Women’s Auxiliary of the Middlesex County Rescue Squad in Deltaville, supporting the organization with her time, compassion for others, and dedication to giving back to her community which she loved — Deltaville.
Nellie enjoyed spending time at Stingray Point Beach, which was her second favorite place besides being home with her family. Though she has gone to be with her heavenly father, her legacy will live on as a tireless servant of the Lord here on earth.
A funeral service for Nellie Jane Harrow of Deltaville is planned for 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 27 at Philippi Christian Church in Deltaville. A reception will immediately follow in the church fellowship hall.
