by pastor Aaron Wells –
When I was younger, I was embarrassed to talk about God. I believed, but I was shy about it. The cool kids talked about music, girls, cars and work. I wanted to be cool. I didn’t think Jesus was cool. I didn’t think God was cool. I knew all about Him. I believed in Him. But I didn’t know how to talk about Him. Part of the problem was that I knew about Him, but I didn’t know Him.
God created people to be loved by Him, to love Him, to know Him, and to enjoy a relationship with Him. This is our ultimate purpose, to love God and enjoy Him forever. But those that know Jesus now and are experiencing glimpses of heaven on earth, we have a job. We are to talk about God – all the time. Maybe it is hard to talk about Him because we never learned how to.
Not too long ago, most Christians felt that their faith was personal and private. “We don’t talk about religion or politics. It’s not proper.” Many in the greatest generation and in the baby boomer generation have shared with me that they grew up that way.
But we are to talk about God all the time. There is nothing cooler to talk about. He created everything. Everything good comes from Him. He is our hope and future. He is our forgiveness and peace.
Trust and believe in Jesus. Talk about Him all the time. This is part of the greatest command ever given to mankind from God…
