Joseph Warren Milby, 82, of Urbanna, passed away on Friday, Aug. 5, 2022.
Warren was the son of William H. and Louise M. Milby of Stormont. He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Vivian Saunders Milby.
He is survived by his brother and sister, William E. Milby and Eloise Milby Shaver; two sons, Joseph Warren Milby Jr. (Helen) of Washington, D.C. and John Kevin Milby (Anne) of Urbanna; and two granddaughters, Sarah and Kate Milby of Washington, D.C.
Known affectionately as “WoWo,” Warren attended Middlesex High School and Lynchburg College, where he met the love of his life, Vivian, affectionately known as “ViVi.” They married and settled in Urbanna in 1962, where he began his career with his father at William H. Milby Lumber Company.
As a young man, Warren served in the United States Coast Guard reserves and was an active member of the Middlesex Volunteer Fire Department. Warren was a member of Christ Church Parish Middlesex for more than 30 years and he served as a member of the church vestry, as well as a member of the cemetery committee.
He was an avid sportsman and fan throughout his entire life, enjoying fishing and golf or anywhere there was a portable bar. Warren enjoyed spending time telling stories and laughing with his family especially his two granddaughters, Sarah and Kate. Warren’s special gift to anyone who knew him was his quick wit and sense of humor.

A graveside service is planned for 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 13 at Christ Church Parish (Middlesex), followed by an outdoor reception. Arrangements are by Bristow Faulkner Funeral Home.
