Along with a doubleheader on Wednesday, July 27, at the Deltaville Ballpark, the 241 Baseball League celebrated the life of Alex Fitchett, who passed away July 27, 2019 due to injuries in an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) accident. The league presented the Alex C. Fitchett Memorial Baseball Night.

Fitchett was an all-state Middlesex High School baseball player and a star player in the Legion Post 241 Baseball Championship team and a centerfielder for the Deltaville Deltas. Alex’s family and friends met in center field between games and conducted a candlelight ceremony at the ballpark to honor Fitchett.

The two Middlesex County teams played. Williamsburg defeated Middlesex (older team), 5-4, in the first game, while the younger Middlesex* team defeated the Virginia Rebellion, 19-13, in the second game of the doubleheader.
