On July 12, the Middlesex County Board of Supervisors (MCBS) rezoned approximately 15 acres in Saluda to General Business and 2.3 acres to Village Community, clearing the way for a major business. The rezoning application was initiated by supervisors in May. It had previously been zoned Low Density Rural.
The land is located across General Puller Highway (U.S. Route 17 Business) from Dollar General, Massey Urbanna Builders’ Supply Co. LLC, and diagonally across from Middlesex High School (MHS).Officials are not commenting on which business may want to locate on the parcel, which has 1,200 feet on U.S. 17 Business.
The Middlesex Economic Development Authority had been in talks with Tractor Supply about locating on less than five acres where the former Rappahannock Central Elementary School was located at Cooks Corner, but that deal fell through.
It has been reported, however, some supervisors have met with Tractor Supply officials when resistance arose to the Cooks Corner site…
