The Deltaville 5K and Fun Run chairman reflected last week on what she called a “very successful” event. She also reached out to thank the many participants, volunteers and sponsors who made it happen. “We had perfect weather, great music, and so many amazing runners and walkers,” Urbanna native Susan Lukens told the Sentinel in looking back at the July 2 event. “We couldn’t have asked for a better Saturday morning!”

While not all who officially signed up for the race actually participated, Lukens said 321 people paid to be in the race, contributing greatly to funding for Deltaville Community Association (DCA) offerings. While many participants came from Middlesex County and elsewhere across the Old Dominion, many also came from neighboring states and one man even came all the way from Rambouillet, France — about an hour’s drive southwest of Paris.

The DCA operates multiple recreational venues, including the Ricky Taylor Memorial Community Swimming Pool, combination tennis-pickleball courts, a basketball court, children’s playground and Deltaville Ballpark.
