Children 6 months and older are now eligible to be vaccinated against COVID-19. Health departments in the Three Rivers Health District are now offering the Moderna and Pfizer vaccines for children 6 months and older, in addition to back-to-school vaccinations. Those wishing to get their children vaccinated should call their local health department to schedule an appointment.
Vaccinations remain the most powerful tool to limit COVID-19 infection, prevent severe disease, and to protect children in school. COVID-19 vaccines are available at no charge and back-to-school vaccines may be available at little to no cost.
“We want parents to know that now is a great time for children to receive the school-required vaccines before the first day of school to start their school year off right,” said Holly Balderson, nurse manager for the health district. “All of our local health departments carry these vaccines, as well as COVID-19 vaccines for all age groups.”
